“You’ve been sent to take out the empire’s largest ship; The Orbiter. Doing so could turn the tides of the rebellion. Navigate through space with your crew taking on events as they happen so you can prepare for your final assignment.”

An entry for the Portland Indie Game Squad’s Summer Slow Jams “My Final Form” Game Jam. One Way Warp Squad is a dialog-based adventure game where each new day brings an event that you must deal with by talking with your crew. Listen carefully and make an informed decision, stocking up on supplies so that you can take on your final assignment. First person gameplay lets you interact with your crewmates and ship. In 17 days our small team of two was able to create a robust event system for modular in game events and dialogue, original character models and environments, multiple endings, and a complete soundtrack.

Technical Features:

  • Unique visuals inspired by the fifth generation of gaming with the lack of sub-pixel precision and no Realtime lighting
  • Modular “Day” system with custom scripting using Yarn Spinner allows for the simple creation of new scenarios and dialog with minimal effort
  • Multiple endings utilizing Unity’s Animation and Timeline systems

Original Soundtrack

One Way Warp Squad is not only our first release but our first original soundtrack as well. Using a KORG Karma and decades worth of collected instrument libraries stored on floppy disks, the soundtrack was crafted in a short four hour session. Using FL Studio for mastering and editing, we were able to produce five original ambient songs. The soundtrack is made entirely from samples and loops.
